Thank you so much for the Bob Hoover story. He was a great aviator and a fine example of American manhood. Your work helps remind us “ we are not descended from timid men. “

A great listen.
I was recommended this Pod by a Mutual friend, D Brandt. 1001 Heroes, Legends, Histories and Myths is fantastic. Great stories well done. The stories are rich and full of interesting information. Thanks for all of your hard work.

Wonderful Podcast; Fabulous Stories
Just finished listening to the excellent Snow Shoe Thompson episode. I first learned of Snow Show from listening to Johnny Horton’s song of the same name back in the early 60s and this podcast filled in a lot of the fascinating background history of this truly heroic man. There is a huge catalog of episodes and we love to cruise through and pic the episode that tickles our fancy at the moment. Thank you, Jon, for your well-told, well-researched and most pleasantly narrated podcast. Keep a goin’!

Great content, awesome story telling
I love history. But I really enjoy random historic events. You do a great job thank you.

Wow!
Been listening to your podcast almost non stop for about two weeks. I really enjoy the episodes about the Old West but the Guadalcanal episode was unbelievable! Keep up the great work. I am a huge fan.

Surprised and Thrilled!
Love this show being from the Carolinas! Sadly Florence is SC, Andy and Aunt Bee where in Mayberry NC. (Mt Airy …Andy Griffins real home town). But the podcast is like listening to an old friend.

1001 hero’s legends history’s and mystery’s
I love this podcast I’m only eleven and a big history buff but it’s better than any history book you could ever read!

1001 heroes histories and mysteries
Very enjoyable. Well researched stories and great history.

Always some thing new to learn. As a history major I love the content
I love the show always learning some thing about the topic that I didn’t know before. Love the way John presents the story and facts. Keep up the good work.

Great listen
I appreciate the structure and knowledge of this show. It’s great. Just wish the episodes were numbered and or searchable.

I am truly enjoying this podcast. Great information, love the old west and it’s many diverse characters. John, and crew, keep up the good work sir. I am making my way thru as I have only recently discovered your work. Love the early colonial stories as well.

Intriguing and well researched snapshots and stories. However, two corrections are in order regarding the Shoah or Holocaust referenced in several episodes. First the Nazi campaign of Jewish annihilation and mass torture occurred in five (5) continents not just in Europe. Second, the number of Jews slaughtered is now estimated to be 16-20 million according to research from 2010 at the National Holocaust Museum including over 42,000 concentration camps. It is now estimated that 3-5 million Jewish children were mass murdered through five (5) continents. Keep up your good work.

Fantastic podcast
I really like the history here. Have you considered doing a show on Bob Hoover? Jimmy Doolittle called him the greates stick and rudder pilot who ever lived. In ww2 he escaped from a German POW camp then stole a German plane and escaped to Holland.

Love this podcast
I absolutely love the variety offered in this podcast. I listen everywhere; in the car, while doing yard work, while cycling. As a lover of history I’ve discover a few books that I wouldn’t have otherwise thought to read. I really enjoy learning more about the various topics. Jon really digs deep into the subjects. You get far more in-depth information than you do from most individual sources. Jon keep up the good work. Ean

A Good Story is Hard to Find

Never get weary listening

Big fan of here and your stories sir! I now look forward to the sometimes menial tasks at work so I can get lost in some history. Thank You Sir!

Bigfoot
John… great, balanced review of Bigfoot data and myths. Question: Much of the data still standing hints that Bigfoot and cousins may be remnant populations of archaic primates. However, the archaeological press has started hinting at an alternative. Could these creatures be remnant hominids? Could they be Denisovans? It seems Denisovans were large, red-haired and possibly loners. They may have been autistic savants, potentially responsible for the development of medicine, music and other profound ideas. (Reference DNA research of savant pabo, et al) If so we may be observing a “society” based on isolation rather than our model that evolved on cooperation. If so, this intelligence might account for lack of residual artifacts, dead bodies, nocturnal movements and the like. Might you consider a show to investigate the likelihood of Denisovans as Bigfoot? Thanks

Fantastic
John, I am always a day late and a dollar short but I want you to know I found your podcast about six months ago and they are fantastic. my wife is extremely skeptical but I turned her onto your site about a month ago and we both love your Podcasts. As for the people like the one who said that there is too much profanity is blowing smoke. My son and daughter-in-law homeschool and I am turning them on to your Podcasts. I just finished little bighorn, three episodes. My wife studied everything there was to know about Custer when we homeschooled our children (now 24 to 38 ) and I can’t wait for her to listen to this one. Every millennial in this country should be listening to this show. Keep it up John we need you.

My “go to” podcast for a good story
However it is that John finds the time to put these stories together, we are definitely reaping the benefits. Stories are always interesting, expertly told, and well produced. Like others, I have found the World War II stories absolutely amazing - I was never interested in World War II history until I started hearing it from John! Thank you, John, and please keep it up!

1001 stories
Wow I like learning history this way

One of the only pod cast I listen to , really great entertainment

Love this Pod
This has become my go to podcast. It makes the hours I spend behind the wheel fly by.

Fantastic Podcast!
Like listening to old school radio shows, or having a family member tell you a story. I wait weekly for new shows, and I especially love the series on Earhart, along with anything on Area 51 or aliens. I love the show. Keep up the great work!

Very enjoyable and informative!
I’m going out west this summer, and plan to visit the site of the Battle of Little Bighorn. I wanted to familiarize myself with the battle a little more, so I searched for podcasts about it. Most just gave the basics, but 1001 went super in depth! It was by far the best I found. (I’ve listened to those three episode about 4 or 5 times now) Ive since become a regular listener and look forward to each new episode, while also continuing to catch up on older ones.

Great entertainment.
Wow, wow, wow! Such a great poscast.

Great podcast
I love history podcasts and listen to them daily. They make tasks go by so much faster. I have been especially enjoying 1001 podcasts recently because Mr H has been diligent about steering clear of current politics! Thank you! I appreciate so much that you state facts. Period. And let the listener decide what their opinions will be. Keep up the good work!

Amazing - Like My Grandfather Telling Me Stories
No offense meant by the title but that’s how this show feels like. I look forward to all of your shows. Thanks John!!

Branching out
I have listened to all of the HLMH episodes and very much look forward to the new episodes. While waiting for the next episode, I tried some of the classic stories and got hooked on those too. Quality story telling works across a myriad of topics and John Proves that with all of his podcasts! Great job and keep them coming.

Greatest Podcast
I love this podcast. Very informative, and easy to follow. I love that there are variety of topics.
