In "the Steadfast Tin Soldier" from Hans Christian Anderson whcih has been adapted into ballet and theater, a boy receives a set of 25 tin soldiers, all cast from an old tin spoon, and lines them up on a tabletop. One soldier stands on a single leg, nevefr faltering, and falls in love with a paper ballerina. A series of events overtake the tin soldier before he can realize his dream, leaving us to wonder if fate controls our lives regardless of our actions, or if we must rise above our limitations and take control of our lives.
